The NRMA has proposed to redevelop the Nadi Street Mall, the site of the old Nadi Art Centre and a popular spot for people to take their children for an evening out.
But it has also proposed a plan to build a massive hotel, to accommodate an expanded hotel, and to turn the Nadeem Square mall into an office park.
The Nadeam Square mall, which used to be the site for Nadi’s iconic Nadi-Art Centre, will now be a massive, multi-purpose shopping and entertainment centre, with a hotel, offices and restaurants.
Its developers have also said they will renovate the Nai Jalan-Jawaharlal Nehru University, which has been occupied by students since the 1960s.
The NRMA is seeking to redevelop and expand Nadi Mall to include a restaurant, retail, entertainment and cultural space, with space for a high-rise residential tower and a hotel.
The project is slated to cost around Rs 3,000 crore and be completed in two phases.
The first phase would see the redevelopment of the mall to include an upscale hotel, retail and entertainment hub, with an expanded mall for the hotel.
This is part of a larger plan to develop the mall, said NRMA chairman N R Narayanan.
